, Fordomatic Transmission I had my car listed here about a year or so ago.
It generated considerable interest at that time, with a number of people contacting me just to tell me how much they liked it and how they wished they could buy it, and others with a seemingly genuine interest in buying it but things just did not work out at the time.
As such, I decided to remove my listing for a while.
Now, I have decided to give it another shot.
I have had this 1955 Ford Fairlane Victoria 2 door hardtop for 7 years.
When I bought the car, it already had the nice paint job, nicely re-done upholstery, and an engine rebuild.
Since I bought it, I have done numerous things to it to bring it to where I thought it needed to be:
It has received upper control arms and bushings, front shock absorbers, a new radiator, gas pump and filter, gas tank, thermostat, sending unit, temperature gauge (original in dash replacement), horn relay switch, turning signal harness, hoses, new carpeting, new headliner and sun visors, reproduction scuff plates (still have the originals), and a carburetor rebuild.
Learning that seat belts were an option for the first time in 1955, I also had seat belts installed for my own satisfaction.
It is also registered with restored 1955 Texas license plates which are extremely hard to find ($350) !!!! A new battery was installed 04/19.
It passes the State of Texas Safety Inspection Test every year, which is not necessarily required of antique/classic cars in Texas (but which allows me to drive it whenever and wherever I want to unlike registering it as an antique or classic).
It drives and rides like a dream, handles well, shifts smoothly, presents itself very well especially with the wide whitewall tires !!! It has received numerous awards in local car shows.
It has been a real pleasure for me over the years and still is I still take it out for a weekly drive on Saturday or Sunday and sometimes in between.
I just think I am ready for a change.
It had 77,000 miles on it when I bought it.
It now has 83,480 (subject to change weekly).
This car was born in Texas, assembled at the Dallas Ford plant (which Ford closed in the late 1960's).
From what I understand, it belonged to a doctor in San Antonio for a number of years before going to new owners in Arkansas for about 10 years, then returned to Texas where it had been for 2 years or so when I found it and bought it.
Again, I have had it for about 7 years now.
It would be nice for it to stay in TEXAS but, new adventures wouldn't be bad either !!!! If you are looking for a very nice, dependable, head-turner of a classic car to enjoy cruising about town in, sharing in cars shows, and to also enjoy having in your garage just to admire the rest of the time then this could be the car for you !!! NADA High Retail on a 1955 Ford Fairlane Victoria 2 Door Hardtop in this condition is $36,475 noting that high retail in NADA terms does NOT represent a 100 Point or #1 Vehicle which would be a vehicle that is not driven, would generally be in a museum or transported in an enclosed trailer to concours judging and car shows, and would be stored in a climate regulated facility.
I have close to $35,000 in it between what I paid for it and what all I have done to it during the time I have owned it to bring it to the condition it is in.
That amount, $35,000, is the guaranteed value it is currently insured for.
I have a folder of documentation covering the time I have owned it.
I will be happy to share a walk-around video and a video of the engine running with you on request.
The only negative I am aware of, if you consider it a negative for its age, is that it drips a little oil and transmission fluid.
But, it is not enough that I have to continuously check the level of either.
Every year when I get it inspected and serviced, they change the motor oil and filter and top off the transmission fluid.
(They have told me they added 1/3 of a quart of transmission fluid).
I do keep a drip pan underneath it on the garage floor.
About once a month, I wipe the pan with paper towels to clean it.
PRICE HAS BEEN REDUCED FROM THE ORIGINAL ASKING PRICE OF $32,500.
